Limestone

Limestone is mostly composed of calcium carbonate. It is usually white but may be colored by impurities, iron oxide making it brown, yellow, or red and carbon making it blue, black, or gray. It is softer than marble and granite and is rougher in texture. Since limestone is porous, it must not be overexposed to water and other liquids. Proper sealing and periodic maintenance is required to keep limestone in good shape.
